MSC General Council

The General Superior seeks to foster both the sisters’ and the Institute’s faithful response to the Lord’s loving plan.

Remembering  Mother Cabrini’s wish that the General Superior be a “light that both guides and is lovingly present to” the sisters, she seeks the direction the Lord wishes for the Institute and for individual sisters by collaborating with the General Council members in prayerful discernment.

During the General Chapter held in Rome from June 26 to July 22, 2022, the new General Council of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was elected.

The General Council elected in July during the 16th General Chapter is in Rome ready to work together for the global mission of the Institute of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Sr. Stella Maris Elena MSC was born July 21, 1950, in Rosario, Prov. of Santa Fe, Argentine Republic. She entered the Institute on March 7, 1990.
Education: Maestra Normal Nacional, Catechist for children, adolescents and youth, Psychopedagogy and Religious Science. Missions entrusted to her: Lecturer for about 50 years at the “Madre Cabrini” College (Rosario); Director and Legal Representative of the different Argentine Educational Centers (except the “Sagrado Corazón” Mercedes (San Luis) College); Regional Superior (for three terms); General Assistant in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay; General Bursar (for seven years), currently Assistant General.

My commitment, as has been made clear through my speech during all the years of my collaboration with the Institute, is to embrace Mother Cabrini's spirit and work to strengthen CARISMA, according to her advice. I truly believe that it is CARISM that unites (or makes global), and the attitude of service, listening and availability with each and every Sister is the way to achieve this. As a member of the General Council, I have felt and feel the obligation, as Mother says, to focus my inner work in identifying the spiritual and material needs of each community and each Sister in particular, with the help of the Cross of Jesus, with all possible charity, to fill these needs. My commitment is also, thanks to my experience in previous management, to bring to the General Council all that is possible so that the Institute serves the Church with its missions, contributes to the salvation of souls and gives glory to God with every activity. I personally believe that, more than any formalism, there is a need for a revitalization of CARISMA, from the vocation ministry, to initial and ongoing formation, to the attention and enhancement of older women, the source into which we must channel the Cabrinian spirit. My total commitment is based on what I have listed and, for that, on my willingness to serve.
