Who we are

We Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are a congregation of women consecrated to God through our religious life.
The Institute was founded in 1880 by a passionate and courageous woman - Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini - whose only desire was to communicate, demonstrate and make known the love and mercy of Jesus Christ through tangible acts of love, mercy and justice.

From its humble beginnings in Italy, the Institute is now present in 15 countries. With a dynamic commitment to responding to the unmet needs of many people denied fundamental human rights, the Missionary Sisters sponsor many initiatives, including: schools, hospitals and clinics, spirituality centers; housing for low-income seniors; community-based social and immigrant services.

We Missionary Sisters, together with all those who share the missionary activity, have a vision: to be and demonstrate love where love is lacking and to be a sign of hope where hope is lacking.
